Symbolism can be found in just about everything that we interact with on a day to day basis. We may not see them. We might be too absorbed in our own worlds and problems that we often aren’t paying attention. Be that as it may, there are messages everywhere waiting for us to acknowledge them and use them to help enhance our lives. Our clothing and intimate apparel can often times contain messages too including geometric symbolism. This even includes how they are constructed because the patterns used to create any item of clothing involve lines and curves that form shapes. Shapes often carry spiritual and psychological meanings. When looking at Bodybinds pieces, I see more than just beautifully crafted bondage lingerie. I see geometric shapes within them which can have sacred meanings. Let’s take the diamond cage monokini piece from their black collection and breakdown some of the potential symbolism that can be found in it. The prominent geometric shapes and patterns are crisscrosses (X formations) and triangle shapes. Triangles are very powerful shapes because they can direct energies or our eyes to a concentrated focal point. For many years triangles have often been a representation of strength, balance and completion. A triangle is made up of 3 sides. In numerology the number 3’s significance includes balance, harmony and completion: think the holy trinity if you are Christian, “reduce, reuse, recycle”, “present past and future” or “mind, body and soul”. An upside down triangle can represent the upper half of a man who typically possesses broad shoulders and a smaller waist which some women are sexually attracted to. An upside down triangle also, to me, represents the feminine reproductive system of the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries and the shape of pelvic area. Therefore, triangles can represent focus in our sexual energies and/or our sense of harmony and balance. Crisscrosses also represent some cool symbolism. They can represent completion. When I think of crisscrosses, the letter/shape “X” or “ex-something” comes to mind and those things are widely recognized as the ending of or completion of something. Crisscrosses could mean eliminating old things like thoughts and beliefs about ourselves or others. Defining what is X in an algebra math problem denotes you’ve solved/completed it. Crisscrosses or crossing things can symbolize the mixing and intersection of things, ideas, energies or beliefs. If you cross merchandise a display in a department store it means you mix items and ideas from different departments into one display to create something more interesting. X formations can also be read as “X-rated”. When I think of anything X rated, I think of things of a sexual energy. Bodybinds pieces, to some, can be seen as X rated. They are super sexy and may make someone think of sex with you if you’re wearing some!  I take these themes and ideas to denote the completion or end of things to bring about different results and experiences in our lives. So let’s bring all these ideas and meanings together. For the case of the diamond cage monokini, I take this piece to display some powerful themes. The crisscrosses and triangles represent a strong focus on the wearer embodying and/or attracting energies that are balanced, sexual and inspire shedding old thoughts or beliefs about women and sexuality to create more harmonious and interesting ones.  Whether this was deliberate in the designs or not, I’d say that Bodybinds garments are organically charged with sacred geometric energies of sorts that includes themes of sexuality/sensuality and balance. I think that this is so important because so many women (and men sometimes) struggle with accepting their sexual nature and finding power and balance in it. Your sexuality is highly spiritual and an important part of your life. When you have this in harmony, it will almost always affect other aspects of your life for the better. Sexiness is 90% mindset but let’s be thankful for the 10% in looks that Bodybinds helps out with!

I’m interested to know what symbolism you find in the diamond cage monokini or any of the Bodybinds pieces. What shapes do you identify and what do they signify to you?
